P8 to P9 on the Gatineau Parkway

Gatineau Parkway Trail (green) in the Gatineau Park. This is a shared trail for both skate and classic cross-country skiing. Total distance (to P9 and back) is about 7 to 7.5 kilometres.   ( scroll down for photos )

A fairly short and easy trail. It is actually located on what is a paved park road during the summer, and is therefore wide and open. It has a number of gradually slopping hills, but nothing that's very big or steep. This trail also has wide middle area for skate-skiing and double tracks on each side for people who like classic skiing. Although it doesn't lead to a cabin, it might be a good choice for people looking for a short easy trail for their first visit to the Park. Moreover, this segment of the Gatineau Parkway is a popular area at the very beginning of the season when there isn't much snow on the ground. This is because the paved road is relatively level, and this makes it possible for the Park to set groomed tracks when there's a very limited snow base.
